Håkan Westesson, Göteborg, Sverige

Håkan Westesson är författare och aktuell med ungdomsboken Handbok för unga häxor, (med författaren, konstnären och illustratören Linda Spåman). Hans bakgrund från teatern, bland annat som producent på Göteborg Stadsteater, ger avtryck i hans dialogdrivna suggestiva berättarteknik. Det är samtalen, situationerna och möten mellan de olika karaktärerna som för handlingen framåt i varje scen i hans prosa. En prosa som ofta utforskar magi och det omedvetna.

Under stipendievistelsen på Villa Martinson kommer han att arbeta med ett nytt bokprojekt för ungdomar. Utgångspunkten denna gång är att pröva Albert Camus tes från Fallet där huvudpersoner beskriver hur man kan dela in mänskligheten i tre kategorier: De som finner det bättre att inte ha någonting att dölja än att behöva ljuga, de som föredrar att ljuga framför att ingenting ha att dölja, och slutligen de som tycker om både lögner och hemligheter.

Håkan Westesson is an author and current with the youth book Handbok för unga häxor, (together with Linda Spåman). His background from the theater, including as a producer at Göteborgs Stadsteater (Gothenburg City Theatre), is reflected in his dialogue-driven, evocative storytelling technique. It is the conversations, situations and encounters between the different characters that move the plot froward in each scene of his prose. A prose that often explores magic and the unconscious.

During the scholarship stay at Villa Martinson, he will work on a new book project for young people. The starting point this time is to test Albert Camus´thesis from The Case, where main characters describe how humanity can be divided into three categories: Those who find it better to have nothing to hide than have to lie, those who prefer to lie to having nothing to conceal, and finally those who enjoy both lies and secrets.
