“Smart specialisation” is a European concept and an important component in the EU’s ten-year strategy for future growth and employment, known as Europe 2020. This strategy aims to help European regions become competitive on the global stage.
In Västra Götaland’s case, we aim to achieve this by identifying areas where we have advantages over other regions. It is a matter of developing our pre-existing strengths and being prepared to embrace new areas that arise as the business world and society change. In fact, Västra Götaland’s strengths have long been an important part of the region’s development strategy.
